my career (in a nutshell)

American University

college life

I graduated from American University in Washington, DC with a BA in Public Communication (Journalism and PR).

My dream was to work in the music industry following internships at 99.1 WHFS FM, Z104 FM, Mix 107.3 FM and Sony Music.

MRY

hr life

In 2007 I became the first (and only) HR Manager at creative agency MRY (formerly Mr. Youth) – one of Inc. 500’s “fastest growing private companies in America” (2007) and Mashable’s “social media agency of the year” (2009).

social media career

From 2009-2014 I worked as a freelance Social Media Strategist and here are some highlights:

- Launched social media platforms for National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Daytime Emmy Awards)

- Had a client-facing role at Billboard working on social media content strategy for the Billboard Music Awards Milestone Award presented by Chevrolet

- Worked with a team of social media strategists on the launch strategy for Microsoft Xbox 360 Kinect

- Managed social media platforms and campaigns for Bordeaux Wines, Leica Camera, and Time Warner Cable

Billboard

From 2014-2017 I worked at Billboard, the world’s most influential music media brand (and largest by digital traffic and social reach). Billboard was ranked “No. 1 U.S. Brand” and “No. 1 U.S. Publisher” on Twitter (2015).

As Social Media Editor I was responsible for creating content across social media platforms and audience development.

I also covered live events (from daily artist visits to the Grammy Awards), pitched content ideas to the newsroom based on trends, contributed stories to Billboard.com, and produced social media strategy plans and reports.
